  • Geopolymer concrete is a pozzolan-based concrete that has a different chemical reaction compared to traditional Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) concrete. Geopolymer concrete is the material that has been used in structures such as the Roman aquaducts and Egyptian pyramids which have stood for thousands of years.

Geopolymer concrete can be made from a variety of recycled materials with one of the most common being Fly Ash, a coal power plant by product.

While individual mixes vary, in general geopolymer concrete has improved metrics across the board compared to OPC concrete including higher compressive strength, improved water impermeability, resistance to freeze/thaw cracking, as well as resistance to sulfate, sulfide and acid attack.

  • We have pre-designed several home designs using our 'Kit of Bricks' system to build the physical structure. This set of bricks, beams, and panels can be combined in different ways to make unique home designs while relying on a limited number of individual parts.

We start by pre-designing the home based around our novel construction technology. From there we generate a Bill-of-Materials that includes a specific set of bricks as well as other home components such as windows, doors, and appliances. We pre-manufacture the bricks by casting them in 3D printed molds and pre-fabricate the mechanical system sub-assemblies for quick connecting on-site.

We ship a digital set of instructions and set of components to the job site to be assembled by our small build team. We have designed a unique foundation system that is pre-engineered for seismic resistance which we then stack our bricks, beams, and panels on top of. Once the structure has been 'roughed-in' we attach the mechanical systems before spray-applying our GeoFoam material to cover the walls and act as insulation and siding.

We then install the appliances, fixtures, and finishes and do any final steps before handing over the keys.

  • We have designed our system to ensure you can access all the mechanical systems (plumbing, electrical, and HVAC) without having to break into the structural wall.

As part of our 'Kit of Bricks' we have developed special mounting bricks that get stacked in place during wall assembly. We make sub-assemblies of conduit, piping and other components that are made to length for each unique home design. Once on-site, we just quick-connect those pre-made sub-assemblies onto the mounting bricks and use our GeoFoam to lock them in place and cover them up.

  • We set out to build this company into a potential alternative to traditional construction from day one. While we are starting with small single-family homes, our technology is designed to scale into multi-family, commercial, and even large-scale civic projects. Because of that, we have tried to design a technology which can scale both in terms of projects and geographies. This has led us down a path that is slightly different from other innovative startups and resulted in a few main differences:

Vertical Integration: We include every part of the physical structure in our system, including the foundation, roof, insulation, and siding of the building. Because of this, not only can we see larger cost savings but we don't have to make sacrifices to interface with legacy systems in the same way. In essence, we have designed away entire problems that other companies must solve. We also aren't beholden to local foundation installers or general contractors in order to build meaning we aren't labor-constrained. We don't think that customers should also have to become project managers and source builders or foundation installers in order to get the product they ordered, which is why we include the entire product as part of our offering.

Flexibility: One key difference between home construction and auto or electronics manufacturing is that you can't design a handful of different units and sell them en masse to customers. Every lot is different, every jurisdiction has different permitting rules, and every customer has different needs and desires for their home. Because of this, mass-producing a few unit types will never be able to provide the varied housing that is needed to solve the housing crisis.

Scalability: This comes in two forms, project size and geographically. Our system is designed to scale from Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) all the way up to high-rise commercial buildings. Other technologies simply can't scale in the same way without incurring large costs but if we are ever to create a sustainable alternative to traditional construction methods, we need to be able to build all sorts of buildings, not just detached single-family homes. We have also based our construction system on a material that can be sourced from recycled materials that are local to any geography we scale into. Geopolymer concrete can be made from a variety of recycled sources meaning no matter where we are building, we canuse materials that are close by without having to transport steel, lumber, concrete, plastics, or even entire modules halfway across the country. This reduces both transportation carbon emissions and costs while minimizing supply chain delays.

  • Geopolymer concrete, like most concretes, has exceptional fireproof ratings. There are even some mix designs which allow the geopolymer concrete to get stronger when exposed to high temperatures. Because we use geopolymer concrete for our entire structure our buildings will all have high fire safety ratings which surpass every standard benchmark.

We are actively designing a foundation system that integrates with our homes. Because of this, our foundations will be pre-engineered for enhanced seismic protection in order to go above and beyond the prescriptive standards. We are designing this system to work in every geographic region and are starting in Oregon to prove out our seismic capabilities.

  • Our homes are designed to be all-electric and Net Zero Energy. Geopolymer concrete has superb natural passive thermal benefits and our radiant floor heating design is intended to capitalize on the material properties. Every home is designed to surpass Passive House, LEED, and Earth Advantage requirements for energy efficiency.

  • While our system is designed for infinite scalability, we are not actively designing for multi-story buildings yet. In order to provide housing as quickly as possible to the market, we are starting with single-story Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and single-family homes. Once we are operational and have proven out the technology on the smaller scale, we will design our first multi-story buildings in order to provide a wider variety of homes and buildings.

  • We are planning to scale into those markets as we grow but are starting with single-family homes initially. In California and Oregon, where Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) have become legal, we can start to provide multi-family options by building ADUs and cottage clusters.

  • Soon! Talk to us about becoming a certified installer or licensing our technology in your own projects. We are estimating a 30% construction cost reduction and 80% smaller build team and if you are interested in using our system yourself, we would love to chat.

  • Almost! As we go through our certification process we are designing this system to be usable in a fully-customizable fashion. Initially we are selling pre-designed and pre-engineered homes but once operational we will begin to allow people, architects, and designers to create their own home designs which we will 'brickify' and turn into a kit of components to build with.

If you are interested in designing a custom home and would like to get involved early, reach out to us to discuss.
